APAC Global Advisory welcomes Oo Ban Leong as our M&A, Corporate & Change Advisor
We are excited to announce Oo Ban Leong as our M&A, Corporate & Change Advisor as of 8 April 2024. Ban is a leading M&A practitioner, as well as a successful entrepreneur who founded and led Singapore law firm Prolegis LLC through change. He has himself transitioned from his practice as a profiled and leading practitioner at a Magic Circle firm, to becoming an entrepreneurial sole proprietor in 2012 and thereafter, under his stewardship, transforming Prolegis LLC into a near 20-lawyer practice with expertise in corporate, commercial, M&A, projects, financial advisory, restructuring and disputes (https://apacglobaladvisory.com/pages/ban-leong-oo).
Ban Leong founded Prolegis LLC which, together with international law firm Herbert Smith Freehills, launched a Formal Law Alliance (FLA) in 2015, the Singapore law practice of which Ban helmed for nearly a decade. This FLA has enabled the clients of both firms to seamlessly access both international and Singapore law services through the expanded FLA network. In his 32 year long career in private practice, Ban has been consistently ranked as a leading corporate and M&A practitioner in multiple legal directories, and has been described in Legal 500 as,' the stable, clear-headed corporate M&A specialist you want on your side.' He has recently passed the torch to the new management team of Prolegis, and has transitioned to now focus on consulting, advisory, mentoring and non-profit initiatives.
“Ban is no stranger to AGA, with whom he has worked for many years. Nor is he unfamiliar to the clients of AGA, and most recently, whilst at Prolegis LLC and alongside AGA, Ban advised a global conglomerate on the acquisition of a regional consumer goods business. In his renewed role within APAC Global Advisory, he will leverage his extensive multi-jurisdictional and multicultural expertise to support MNC and family businesses, on projects that include working in close alignment with APAC Global Advisory’s purpose to Build Legacy through Change.” Mei Wai, Founder, CEO & Chief Change Advisor said. “Ban’s three decade experience in private practice allows him to provide a unique perspective to the role he will play within AGA. Additionally, his experienced leadership and business acumen will be key value-adds to his role in mentoring family business owners and leadership teams that AGA has a proven track record of supporting”.
AGA’s M&A Change Advisory brings together that unique blend of M&A, Change management, business, legal and brand expertise to ensure that strong objective drivers combined with access to the right specialist skills are in place to lead and manage cross-functional, multi-jurisdictional, multi-brand, cross-industries and cross-cultural dynamics. These dynamics are often associated with M&A activities, particularly when seen through the Change Management lens from inception.
AGA’s M&A Change Advisory provides that “single point of contact” to manage M&A, business restructuring, and commercial projects and work streams of Family Businesses that require end-to-end support.
AGA is in a unique position to value add, particularly where dedicated in-house resources may not be readily available for confidentiality reasons, or where management perceives these resources may be more effectively deployed to support the day-to-day activities of the business instead of the specific project proposed to be undertaken by the organisation. AGA not only supports the transactional, project and operational work streams associated with any such projects undertaken, but is also able to procure the provision of specialist and tailored advisory and restructuring support, that is so critical in the initial stages of implementing any of these specific strategies.
